OK then, I think I will never get better. I could not get get comfortable all night with neck pain beyond anything I have ever had. In the morning I couldn’t walk and the pain finally drove me to tears. Ron was beside himself because he couldn’t help me. This was getting very old.
After about three hours the pain had subsided and I said its do or die. So I got dressed and said “lets go”. The walking/hiking was either going to kill me or make me better so by 11 AM we were on the Loop Road at Acadia National Park. Ron was a little hesitant because he thought I was pushing it but I was determined not to ruin this trip. My thoughts were to treat the day like a big physical therapy session that was either going to help or make things worse. Either way, it would determine whether we continue on or head back home.
Although we have been here at least three times in the past we had never done the entire loop road. It is a 27 mile road around one section of the park with pull outs for some very spectacular views.
OMG! we have to walk down and up those stairs!!!!! Ron wanted me to take the elevator but I chose the stairs instead.
We did a lot of walking up and down some rough terrain but the views were well worth the effort and the more we walked the better I felt.
The day was perfect with a light breeze and bright sunshine. A great day for exploring the park.
Views from the top of Cadillac Mountain.
It took us about four hours to do the loop road with many stops to check out the features of the park. Although we didn’t do any specific hiking trails we did do a lot of walking up and down some rough terrain. It was good exercise and physical therapy for me.
Back at the CG Jewel was awaiting our arrival. Besides being happy to see us she was expecting a walk. Oh my, more walking. But we took her for about a one mile walk making her one happy little girl.
I had planned on making dinner but we opted to go out for lobster. Ron and I are not lobster lovers but you can’t come to Maine and not eat one. We stopped at one place and it was packed so we went to the next lobster shack on route 3 – Down East Lobster. Not fancy and a limited menu but we got our lobster. Ron got the lobster roll and I got the boiled lobster. It was good – for lobster - so now we won’t eat lobster again for another three years! LOL
Back at the MH we kicked into relax mode. We are really good in that mode and settled in for the night. Oh, I forgot to mention that Jewel was expecting a third walk for the day so we obliged. It was a beautiful night and we were able to get a glimpse of the sunset as it slid down behind the trees.
Another beautiful sunset for all to enjoy!!!
