It was off to another slow start this morning. Had some long and interesting conversations with out neighbors here at the CG. Such a nice group of people and such a great find for us for a CG. Jewel liked it here so much she decided to move in with one of our neighbors.
We finally pulled out around 11 am for the short trek up the road (40 miles). A new low record for us. The Hilltop CG was advertised as a great spot with a fantastic view of the sound.
Our camp site faces the sound, but unfortunately the trees block the view. But, if you stand really tall looking out the side window you get a sliver of what the sound looks like. LOL Just a little different view then we were told about and were expecting!
The CG has mostly seasonal campers with about 8 sites available for transients like us. A nice place for a stop over and relatively cheap with full hook-ups.The goal here is to see the whirlpools and then the reversing falls.
After settling in we took a walk around the CG enjoying the nice warm and sunny weather. There is a pond on the ground loaded with very big tadpoles – hundreds of them at different points of growth.
There were some interesting street signs posted at the sites. And combo USA/Canadian Flags.
Later, we took a ride to check the whirlpool in Eastport that has been proclaimed to be the biggest in the Western hemisphere.
Just a slight misrepresentation – me thinks!!!!!!!!!!!!! More like a ripple.
OK then, didn’t get to see what we expected so we took a ride around town. Not much going on since the restaurants just opened for the season and it was a ghost town.
Since we were already here we decided to stop at one of the three , just opened restaurants and have dinner. The sign wasn’t on the restaurant building but leaning against another building. HMMM, should we go in??? Yeah, why not!
We were very happy with our meals. My scallops were delicious and Ron’s seafood platter was great. So, although we didn’t get to see the “spectacular” whirlpool we did have a good meal.
On our way back to the CG we stopped to take pictures of the 45th parallel.
Well, although we didn’t get to see the whirlpool

we expected it was still a good day. Tomorrow our plan is to take in the reversing falls.

I guess it can only been seen during certain period during high and low tides. We’ll see how that all goes!!!!!!!
