Woke this morning to another beautiful sunny day. The air is a little cool making it great for outdoor activity. Fortunately, I am feeling better every day so getting around is easier for me.
We got started a little later then usual not leaving the MH until noon. Ron decided he wanted to explore another section of Acadia NP. Acadia NP is broken into three different sections making it an unusual geographic park.
We drove down dirt roads that indicated we would see something but – nope- just the name of the road that led you to believe there was something to see at the end.
Along the coast we stopped to enjoy the views.
We stopped at the Bass Harbor Head Light . It is one of the smallest lighthouses we have been to since Oregon. It is currently manned by a Coast Guard family so we were unable to go inside.
To get the picture on the right we had to go down a very steep staircase and traverse over some very rocky terrain.
WE stopped for lunch at the Sieur de Monts area of Acadia NP. A spot we had missed yesterday on the 27 mile Loop Road. After a quick stop at the Wild Gardens (much like our backyard) we took a walk through the Nature Center and the Abbe Museum that houses Native American Artifacts.
We got back to the MH around 4 PM. We believe we covered all of what we wanted to see and do here so now on to the next leg of our journey. Our next stop will be in the Lubec, Maine area. There we will check out the Quoddy Head Lighthouse and the Reversing Falls.
Of course the CG that we are booked at overlooking the Bay of Fundy does not have sewer hook-ups so I decided it would be a good idea to get my laundry out of the way today.
I have a washer/dryer that I LOVE!!!! The only problem was that it decided to die in the middle of a cycle switching on its’ from washing to drying during the washing cycle. Then it would not restart at all. Not Good!!! After some research and trying to get it to work we concluded that the circuit board had burned out for some reason. YIKES!!! If it can be fixed it will cost around $400.00 . Otherwise a new Splendide W/D will cost around $1,300.00. Hopefully we won’t have to replace it.
So we unloaded the W/D and brought our clothes to the Laundromat. They don’t give the service away at $2.50 to wash and $2.00 to dry one load of clothes!!!! I guess I will be using the CG facilities until we get back home. BUMMER!
