Day 27–Kejimkujic National Park, Maitland Bridge, NS

on Sunday, July 7, 2013

Once done at the “Ovens” we decided to check out the Kejimkujic National Park on our way to Digby. It was a short drive so we arrived around 11 AM. The ranger was concerned she would not be able to find us a site because our rig is too big. Finally she decided on 190. The only utility the park provides is electricity so we made sure we were carrying water and had empty holding tanks. Ron had read that they had WiFi so we thought we would be OK with internet connection.

We were told we couldn’t park our car in our site because they only allowed one motorized vehicle per site. The lot for us to park was about one-mile away. Never heard of that rule before and the ranger stated it was for safety reasons?????

As we were driving to our site we noticed that all of the sites are huge and we could have easily fit our MH in one of many available sites. Not sure what the ranger was thinking.

Once settled in we took a ride to the Visitor Center but didn’t get a lot of info there. We walked the area looking for hiking trails.

After dinner we took a short hike on the Slapfoot Trail along the Mersey River.

Then we went to the WiFi location to try to publish our previous blogs – but – no luck! The connection was either non-existent or sooooooooo slow we couldn’t even get an e-mail out.

We decided that in the morning we would a couple of hikes then take a canoe ride down the Mersey River in the afternoon.

We never did move our car off the campsite because as we walked Jewel around the park we noted there were several people with there RV’s and car parked and no one was bothering them. So we took the chance and left it with us in our site.
