Day 30–Fundy Spray CG, Tidal Power Station, Royal Annapolis, Fort Anne

on Wednesday, July 10, 2013

We had planned on taking a whale watch out of Digby Neck but we woke again to cloudy skies with heavy fog. Our plan was to take  the 1:30PM tour so we waited to see if it would clear up. From what we were told they cancel more watches then they go on.

By 11:30 AM things didn’t get any better so we decided to do something else.  We went to see the  Tidal Power Station in Annapolis. North America’s only tidal power station.

We weren’t able to take a tour because they were working on the generators eight stories below ground. We did get a great explanation on the workings of the power station by our guide.

The station only generates power when the tide is going out so every six hours or so.

We walked to the tidal pools where the water was rushing and providing power.

Later we drove around Royal Annapolis  and admired some  very nice homes.

Then it was on to Fort Anne. Cannot take a trip without at least one cave, mine or fort. LOL

The grounds were absolutely beautiful and well maintained.

The entire area is a lush green from all the rain, rain and more rain. After leaving the fort we took a walk around the town. Most of the towns are seaports with older buildings and quaint little shops.

It sprinkled off and on and the fog never completely cleared all day. Back at the CG we took Jewel for a walk and decided to go back into Digby for dinner and another meal of scallops.

We ate at the Fundy Restaurant this time where the Digby scallops were good but not as good as at the Captain’s Cabin.

Ron wanted to take a walk out to the fishing pier that was about 2 miles from the restaurant. The rain held off  and it was a nice evening for a good walk.

There was a band playing over by one of the restaurants so we stopped to listen. The band was quite good and played songs from the 60’s on up.

We were back at the CG by 9 PM and settled in. We will be heading back to the USA. We may stop at Prince Edward Island, but that will depend on the weather. The forecast is for torrential downpours for the next three days here in Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.  We’ll make that decision when we get to that exit on Thursday.
